David Eugene Lovegren was born March 21, 1949 in Portland, Oregon. He was killed March 1, 1969 in South Vietnam shortly before his 20th birthday. His body was never recovered. Cpl. Lovegren served with Company D, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Division, 11th Brigade. David entered the service in June 1968 and left Portland for Vietnam November 9, 1968. He went to George Elementary School and was a 1967 graduate of Roosevelt High School. A Memorial Fund was set up in David's name in care of Roosevelt High School.
