THE POSSIBLE MAP LOCATION

Where three POW/MIA were located. Revealed by
their coded message they held in a photo.
THE MESSAGE.
The three
POW/MIA gave to the world what I believe was their map location. In hope that
someone would decode their message and come looking for them. When decoding the
cryptic message, I limited all the possibilities down to be obvious and simple.
That the three POWs were located somewhere in South East Asia and they needed
to somehow tell someone where to find them.
Their message was short and
simple. They gave the date of the photo and the general Iocation of their
whereabouts. They also gave a partial geographic coordinate for their location,
hoping somebody would infer (conclude) which country they were in and the other
half of the coordinates.
THE LOCATION.
The message showed that
they were in the north and near the Thailand border. That they could be found
along the latitudinal line 19 degrees North. For reasons of keeping the code
simple and undetected by their captors, they left out the longitudinal line of
the geographic coordinate and the country they were in. Both pieces of
information could easily be inferred (concluded) by whoever decoded the
message.
The latitudinal line 19 degrees N crosses the northern area of
the border between Thailand an Laos.
The Thai - Laotian border runs
parallel north and south between longitude 101 degrees E and longitude 102
degrees E.
IN LAOS.
This should put the three POWs in an area
on the map at geographic coordinates latitude 19 degrees N by longitude 101 to
102 degrees E. This should put them east on the Laotian side of the Thai -
Laotian border area.
Why place the three POWs in Laos and not in
Thailand? Taking all things into account, Laos was the logical conclusion. Laos
was and still is communistic and was sympathetic to N. Vietn during the Vietnam
War. Thailand on the other hand, has been on friendly terms with the USA and is
not governed by communists.
THE RIVER?
In that area of Laos
there is a small river called the Pouy river. After the Pouy river branches
from the Makong river, it runs westward toward the Thai border for about 33
miles. The Mekong river runs south through Laos and into Cambodia and ending in
the far southern tip of Vietnam, emptying into the South China Sea. The Pouy
river ends about 2 miles from the Thai border. The river runs parallel with and
is about 2 miles south of the laditudinal line 19 degrees N.
Instead of
the 3 POWs being confined to a prison camp, which would have had a fixed
location, prone to detection sooner or later, they could have been confined on
a boat. In that way, they and others could easily be transported to new
locations and constantly hide their whereabouts.
On the Mekong river and
other rivers, the captors could ferry their prisoners undetected as far north
into China or far south into Cambodia or Vietnam. And along the way choose a
smaller river, such as the Pouy river to hide for a period of time.
One
of the main sources of transportation in South East Asia is by water craft of
all kinds. The water crafts are a livelihood and a home to many South East
Asians.
It would have been easy to blend in with the many boats on the
waterways of South East Asia or hiding on a lonely tributary, deep in the
jungles.
