A comparison of two Visconti Tarot decks

The cards on the left are from Il Meneghello’s I Tarocchi Visconti-Sforza, a historical reproduction of the original cards. The cards on the right are from Lo Scarabeo’s Visconti Tarots, a modern repainting of the designs. The bottom pair of cards, illustrating the trump known as The Tower, are modern artist’s conceptions, since their corresponding design is missing from extant collections.

The cards are shown here at the same size to aid comparison; the cards on the left are actually much larger than those on the right.
