Week 36 - Final PaymentNot much happened this week that actually moved anything forward. I put up a carbon-monoxide detector in the basement and did some more rearranging, but nothing major. The big thing was that, after two weeks of having only one item on the punch list, John from Slater came out and fixed the one piece of flashing that was causing water to run off the roof behind the gutter and I wrote my final check. So my 12 week project took a total of 36 weeks. On the plus side, it came in slightly UNDER budget. So now everything left to do is entirely mine. The pocket door has moved back to the top of the list. The problem is that I did all the others outside on the porch where there was room, good light and the sanding dust didn't get everywhere. I don't really have a spot like that inside the house and I'm afraid the porch will be too wet and too cold, but we'll see. The other thing I really need to do is start sorting through and getting rid of the stuff that I have saved for the entire project because "I might need it."
I will need to make a complete list and then try to prioritize what is on it, but anything outside is going to be totally weather dependant. ![]()
For instance, the hole along the remaining cement slab into which I have been sifting dirt ... ![]() ... is now a lake.
Not much dirt is going to get sifted here any time soon. On My Own -- The List top |
