What can I do to prepare for these special days of home retreat?

  • Find a definite time in your schedule for daily prayer, meditation or practice.   You might want to create a special place, i.e. corner of a room where you might be quiet; make this space sacred by placing a candle, a book of holy readings, a statue, or a flower there.  You may want to keep a journal as well, to record your reflections and insights during the week.
  • Continue your daily work and family duties, with special attention and mindfulness.
  • Make a commitment to a daily meeting with the spiritual director with whom you will be matched.
  • Relax and enjoy this special time that you have gifted yourself.

  • Share your presence and reflections at the group sessions (including the optional ones on meditation and prayer), and hold the other participants in your thoughts.

In this very experiential course, the two ancient and powerful archetypes of the Labyrinth and the Feminine Divine are explored in the company of one who has been researching these concepts for several years and is still being transformed by them.  Both the path of the eleven-circuit ("Chartres") Labyrinth and the seven-circuit ("classic") Labyrinth will be journeyed by participants.  This is an adventure for your Soul.

I once heard a song that told the story of a man floating in the sea just offshore.  The people on the beach saw him with his hand in the air, and they waved back.  He wasn't waving, he was drowning.

The physical, emotional and spiritual demands of work, our culture, and events in the world can make us feel as if we too are in over our heads.  Spiritual Discovery Circles invite you to save space in your life, to slow down, and soothe your soul.

Through explorations of prayer and meditation, we will access the wisdom of body, mind, and spirit.  There will be silence and sharing and play.  We will make our own prayer beads to ground us in a personal spiritual practice
