Today as a nation we face the greatest threats to democracy and freedom than at anytime in the past, the enemy is not from abroad but the enemy is from within. They are the extremist and odious members of what passes for conservatives in today's politics. They have attacked the very foundations of our government and the institutions that have made it great. We have yielded far too much ground in the 1980's our future freedoms depend upon stopping them now, we must fight now.

I wrote those first two paragraphs when the White Rose first appeared on the internet over seven years ago. Today our cherished freedoms have been severely restricted and curtailed by the illegitimate regime of George Bush. As a nation we now stand on the brink of full-blown fascism. The Fourth Reich is rising like a giant Phoenix from the ashes of 9-11. Reports of terrible atrocities and war crimes committed by our armies in Afghanistan and Iraq have already surfaced. Who will survive to bare witness if the Bush regime is not removed by the upcoming election?

May15/1969 speaking to a news conference about clearing the protesters from the University of Califorina Campus, Gov. Ronald Reagan blurted.

May 3/1970 Republican Gov. of Ohio James Rhodes blurted.

"Nothing is so unworthy of a civilized nation as allowing itself to be governed without opposition by an irresponsible clique that has yielded to base instinct. Who among us has any conception of the dimensions of shame that will befall us and our children when one day the veil has fallen from our eyes and the most horrible of crimes - crimes that infinitely out-distance every human measure - reach the light of day?" As Americans we smugly say that Nazism could never arise here that somehow we are better. Yet since, WWII our foreign policy has been one of overthrowing democratically elected moderate and reform minded governments to install fascist type dictators that support corporate America. We did in Vietnam, Guatemala, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Iran, East Timor and in every corner of the globe. How many more nuns, priests and poor peasant farmers murdered at the direction of the CIA are we going to tolerate? What evils lurk behind Iran/Contra/Cocaine? What horrors were hidden behind the October Surprise? But even more ominous is the domestic terror at the hands of law enforcement agencies. We sit idly by and watch as police beat Rodney King and others. We sit listening to the evening news of reports of police shooting a semi-conscious woman 12 times. We sit and watch as police rub pepper mace into the eyes of peaceful protestors. The problem is we are a nation of bleating sheep, we just sit. That's the same thing they did in Germany before the Nazis seized power, they just sat there. And yes we just sat there as they shot and killed college students. We need to demand that these perpetrators of civil injustices face trial. We need to demand our freedoms rather than sit by while the Republicans in congress seek to limit our free speech by passing a flag burning amendment, our right to sue corporations for damages, our religious freedom by establishing a defacto state religion and the right of every woman to control over her own body. Its time to rise up against right wing tyranny and walk upright like free men again, its time to take action now before we end up in prison or in the streets homeless, victims of a corporate America gone mad.
