Don't be mislead by the amount of disinformation on the internet or in the media about global warming. It is real, the only matter left for debate among serious scientists is how soon the effects will be felt and how severe they will be. The fact remains man has increased the CO2 content of the atmosphere by a factor of one third since 1900. This extra CO2 in the atmosphere will act just like extra insulation in a home; it will retain more heat leading to rising temperatures of the earth.
There is a site on the internet with the domain name of global warming organization, it is in fact nothing of the sorts. The site is financed by some of the largest polluters in the US, the oil companies. Now if they can't be honest over their source of funds and backers do you really think they will present honest peer reviewed literature?
Check the Naysayers Debunked page for the names of some of the more
outrageous liars and remember the one reason the anti-global warming
crowd
cite so few people is because they can't find that many scientist that
will lie for them. Nor don't fall for some of their mindless rants such
as if science can't predict tomorrow's weather how can they predict a
change
in climate. The fact is climate is much easier to predict than the
weather.
Everyone knows that Minnesota can expect snow and extremely cold
temperatures
in the winter and that Arizona can expect hot temperatures during the
summer
and dry-desert like conditions most of the year. That is climate
prediction
not weather prediction and you the reader would have been able to make
the same climate predictions.
I wrote those brief 3 paragraphs above several years ago. They still
hold true today. In fact the situation has became worst. Under the
direction of George W. Bush the EPA's own report conducted for the Bush
regime was watered down from orders from Bush. The dangers are real. We
are beginning to experience the first effects from global warming and
they point to a future crisis if not a total collapse of the earth's
ecosystems. Thousands of acres of forest in Alaska are now dead from an
insect invasion made possible by the warmer temperatures. Europe faces
the danger that it might turn into a frigid ice box from the disruption
of the Gulf Stream due to global warming.

The
photo at the left shows a coral reef, just one of the ecosystems that
are
threatened by global warming. Coral thrives in a relatively narrow
temperature
band of about 5 degrees C centered around 26 degrees C. Once the
surface
waters warm 2 additional degrees above this ban extensive bleaching of
the reef occurs followed by death of the reef. Coral reefs provide an
immense
value to mankind, offering protection to islands from storm surges and
tidal erosion of the shorelines, protection for many other marine
species,
rich fishing grounds and an extremely diverse ecosystem. The
biodiversity
of coral reefs are only rivaled by the biodiversity of rain forest. The
biodiversity of coral reefs have already provided an abundance of drugs
and holds many more yet to be discovered. Additionally the coral reefs
can be used as a bioindicator of global warming. Click on the photo for
an overview of coral reefs and the threat from global warming.

Water and Global Warming:
The water cycle is the shortest cycle known in nature. From the
time
one uses a glass of water to the time the next person uses the same
glass
of water is only 7 days. Already scientists are reporting that global
warming
is effecting our water supply.
