Generic Lessons

Reading a Textbook . Math textbooks are a form of technical writing and can be very hard to read. I plan on doing this lesson on the first or second day of class. It’s a variation on the ‘Read Aloud’ literacy strategy.

Creating a Math Toolbox . When students write they learn. If students have to create their own source of math procedures they will always have notes on how to do things.

Fun Stuff

Zach's Dilemma . I had a student who was into video games and not into understanding the slope of a line in his Algebra class. I came up with a game like this to force him to figure it out. It’s inspired by the classic arcade games.
