I received a copy of this Coat of Arms from this very pleasant unrelated Worrilow who has apparently identified it with the WORRILOW family. Without permission, as this coat of arms has apparently been published in a book, I've used it on the title page of my web site. If I've offended anyone, please let me know, otherwise I'll leave it where it is.
The copy of this COA was take from a book titled: Encyclopedia of Biography, Vol. XXVII, Pennsylvania; Authors: Keator, Alfred Decker, Litt, D.; Publisher: Lewis History Publication, Co., Inc., New York, 1950. William H. Worrilow wrote a biography about the Worrilow's and published his work in the book on page 406. He came up with the Crest in a book called, Burke: "Encyclopedia of Heraldry." A color copy hangs in his son's home; however, there are only two colors on the Crest, gold and silver (or kind of a pewter color). The whole thing is kind of pewter color with three large gold chalices and one small gold chalice on the top. There is also a color copy in the book.
I've attempted to secure the book myself without success. The local library here in Oregon City has tried unsuccessfully, as well, to obtain volume XXVII of this interesting book.
Just as a side note -- our surname comes in a number of interesting packages some of which I submit for your enjoyment: WARRILOW, WARRILLOW, WORRILOW, WADDELAU, WORLOW WHIRLOW, de WARILAWE, de WARRYLOWE, de WARILOWE, de WARRILOWE, de WARYLOWE, WARYLOWE, WARELOWE, WARYLOW, WARRELOWE, WARYLOW, WARILOE, WARRALOW, WARRELOW, WARRALLO WARRELLOWE, WARRYLEY, WORRILOE AND WORLOE'S.
I hope to add another interestng page within this site for your enjoyment in the very near future. An entire research paper entitled: The Staffordshire origins of the surname 'Warrilow' with observations on the early history of the family. Mr. B.H.W. Edwards, the author, has given permission to share his work which will certaily help to clarify our orignins somewhat although it's left me with some very interesting questions I hope he can answere one day.
Anyway, should you wish to share some WARRILOW history etc. drop me a line at dgw@spiritone.com .
