I ran across a website of someone who had a list of qualities their "Perfect One" would have. It nudged me into writing up my own list. This will be an ongoing project, as I refuse to use that one as a template. This is coming from what I can come up with right now.

I'm looking for....

One who is as honest as the day is long

One who knows who she is, and doesn’t deny it

One who understands happiness can happen at any time, not just when good things happen

One who contemplates the starry skies

One who can hear a blues guitar cry

One who has a heightened sense of "why"

One who won’t give up plans because I’m unable to accompany

One who will give up plans to accompany

One who keeps one eye on the horizon

One who isn’t hiding from heartbreak

One who has eyes that I get lost in

One who has a flair for dressing

One who keeps journal

One who is a night person

One who likes taking trips for the most frivolous of reasons

One who craves creativity

One who sings whether she feels she can or not

One who dances because the music won’t let her not dance

One who smiles a lot

One who is comfortable

One who looks beyond the obvious

One who doesn’t need to follow trends, but makes her own

One who’s devotion comes from the very sinew of her body

One who is willing to let her hair be messy

One who prides herself on openness

One who laughs at her own thoughts

One who understands everyone has a past

One who understands that friends come in 2 genders

One who recognizes when to invade my space, and when not to

One who has an inner child, but isn’t governed by it

One who understands that a relationship is first and foremost, a friendship

One who keeps the right secrets

One who knows of drugs, but knows not to partake

One who has the ability to make me laugh out loud

One who is capable of love

One who is not afraid of love

One who has felt love before

One who likes independent music as much as industry music

One who has a clear idea of what kind of person she is

One who doesn’t disgust easily

One who must be as true to her heart as is discretionarily possible

One who works through a problem, not around it

One who isn’t a snob of any kind

One who understands the male desire, and the reasoning behind it

One who doesn’t make judgments based on popular belief

One who knows the religon of being alone in nature

One who realizes you can’t run from yourself

One who believes Elvis is really dead

One who may dye her hair because it’s fun, not to look like someone else

One who may not be proud of her past, but is so much more intelligent because of it

One who doesn’t try to fit me into someone else’s mold

One who will "shake off" a misstated statement

One who is unafraid to speak her mind

One who is tolerant of other people, and their weaknesses

One who knows that forgiveness is not simply forgetting

One who is willing to help and support me achieve what I seek

One who is willing to accept help and support for what she seeks

One who understands the search for security of the heart

One who "can hurt me without hitting me, and hit me without hurting me" *

One who knows how to make shortcomings a strong point

One who can express herself in an artform and simply "has to"

One who believes creative expression is more important than success

One who strives for success without giving up a single thing that is important to her

One who knows she can’t have everything, and won’t

One who believes in miracles

One who loves The Beatles

One who has the capacity to be doing one thing but thinking another

One who has a bad case of curiosity

One who can’t stand trash TV talk shows

One who understands that she may never understand Monty Python, but finds it funny anyway

One who has experience in photography, drawing, or painting

One who can picture a photo or a painting virtually anywhere

One who is willing to try things that she feels may embarrass her

One who knows that ex-girlfriends aren’t the enemy

One who understands the root of jealousy

One who cares deeply for her friends

One who understands being an "outsider" in the beginning is only natural

One who finds no joy in arguing

One who has a family who is among her best friends

One who willing to look and act different than she really is, just for the fun of it

One who is silly

One who understands that people do fall out of love, but can remain close friends

One who doesn’t base her self worth on her sexuality

One who doesn’t mind being put up on a pedestal

One who understands that quiet isn’t a bad thing

One who realizes sometimes there’s nothing to talk about

One who isn’t afraid of what I’m thinking

One who will go out of her way to make sure I see her once a day, and smile

One who pulls out her momentos every now and again, and remembers

One who has patience

One who can be content by herself

One who is willing to be my partner

One who knows that perfect hair should be way down on the list

One who knows right from wrong

One who could NEVER hurt a child or an animal

One who doesn’t fit the description of the word: "workaholic"

One who thinks about me once or twice when she’s out "doing her own thing"

One who has time on her hands

One who isn’t stuck in a rut

One who can accept my "addiction" to listening and playing music

One who doesn’t know what’s best for me

One who offers a neck rub without expecting reciprocation

One who accepts a neck rub without expecting to have to reciprocate

One who is not always looking for an ulterior motive

One who doesn’t understand what the ending of "2001: A Space Odyssey" means

One who understands "Rosebud"

One who can suspend reality

One who likes to put on aires as much as putting on grunge

One who gives and takes compliments purely

One who knows that dolphins are probably more intelligent than most people she meets

One who likes to watch a movie again

One who has smiled at least twice while reading this list

One who would rather write, paint, draw, than watch TV

One who likes reality

One who I can suck up to

One who will accept my request for a dance while she’s blowdrying her hair

One who doesn’t really care how old she is

One who feels comfortable around younger people, as well as older people.

One who believes the magic of Christmas is love

One who wants to grow as a person, even if it means falling out of love

One who keeps her mind open at all times, because she doesn’t know when enlightenment may fall

One who plays the lottery to try and win the $23, not necessarily the $23,000,000

One who has great daydreams

One who realizes a request is not an order

One who loves to fill requests

One who can make herself "presentable" in 3 minutes

One who makes life to her liking

One who wants someone like me
