International Del Amitri Day
Brainstorming Stage

The Idea:
 Simply put, it's an opportunity to meet with localized Dels fans, promote the Dels, and have fun doing it! A large scale convention is being organized for the London fans, but that would leave out the US, and many other countries. The idea is to have many local mini-conventions. Size doesn't matter in this matter! It can be as few as two fans meeting over lunch! Finding fellow Del Amitri fans is hard enough, this will give us all an opportunity to meet and share with others who share this passion.

The Organizers:
 Someone in the following towns has expressed interest in helping to organize their region's Del Amitri Day celebration:

We need volunteers from other countries, too!

This does not include the large scale gathering being overseen by Kevin Cawthorne in London.

You Want To Be A Planner?:
 For those interested in planning a get together, this is part of what you will be responsible for:

  • Securing a space to hold it. Your home; a meeting room; a restaurant, etc.
  • Securing equipment. Video player; TV; audio equipment; etc.
  • Getting the word out! Sending out the press releases.
  • Continual Organization. Continue to keep fans updated on plans as the date draws near.

The Date:
 No date has been set yet. We need the same date everywhere, obviously, for it to be a true International Del Amitri Day. Some dates being mentioned are:

  • Early June
  • July 11 - the unconfirmed release date of the proposed Greatest Hits album
  • Late July
  • Early August....etc.
The release date of the new album would be fun; but I've been advised it might not be a good idea, and might actually be construed as a negative by the press and public. It's also right in with the US National Holiday, July 4th. So, I'm bucking for early June or mid-August. Both hard times, as many people are in the throes of vacation then. We're open to ideas!

Agenda:
 Some of the things that can happen:

  • Meet and greet fans, friends, and new friends!
  • Trade/dub audio tapes
  • View videos
  • Share photos
One idea is to supply a copy of the same video tape to all the mini-conventions. This tape would be a collection of the more rare videos and appearances. But, if I know Dels fans, they're ALL going to want a copy of the video! Ideas?

The same can be said for Audio Tapes. There may be some fans that have none. Again, I'm willing to help provide "Starter Kits".

Publicity:

We'd also like you to publisize International Del Amitri Day. We'll provide you with copies of a press release outlining the concept, contact names, and phone numbers. We'd like you to send these releases to every radio station, tv station and newspaper in your town. Maybe it will garner some publicity for Del Amitri. Who knows! Maybe you'll get on TV telling your town what a great band Del Amitri is!
