Matt Ryan and I climbed Mt Adams in late July 1999. Our goal was
to tag the top then
ski the SouthWest Chutes - an awesome line that gives incredible vertical
relief. Unfortunately we were several weeks too late as the suncups
had become man-eating. Was a great summit day anyway.

Summit of Mt. Adams...el 12,200 feet...July 30, 1999. Mt Hood in

At the top of the Southwest Chutes...obviously not aware of the pain we
were about to endure. This shot gives a sustained 30 degree pitch for
about 3000 vertical feet and then mellows for the rest of the ride
down to treeline. Skiing nirvana in the right conditions . . . utter
brutality if the snow is out of shape.
