| Spent the whole of the morning arranging things for the new truck - hitch, hitch electrical, new tires, rack mount for the roof box & bike, etc, etc... David and Eric at King's Auto were just awesome and basically bent over backwards to make sure we could get on with our adventure. |

FINALLY started heading east once again in the early afternoon - this time with the bike on the roof (wasn't about to climb the Ochoco's and the dreaded Keyes Creek Summit again). We had a great picnic lunch in Mitchell and then proceeded back to the "scene of the crime" - the turn-off to the campground where the tranny blew (and where the camper had been parked for the last 48 hours).
We had our fingers crossed that no great calamity had befallen our little camper - and it was sitting there waiting for us - no problems. We then cruised back down the hill to US 26 so that Destination: Across the Nation could get back in business.
As I was getting ready to get back on the bike and make sure I hadn't forgotten how to ride, Mr Collins from the Collins ranch arrived on a 4-wheeler (with a big-ol' cow leg that he said his dogs had found). He said that he and his wife had been wondering about us and had actually been checking on the camper. Awesome people.
| The ride was just outstanding with stunning scenery and a tailwind through the whole of the John Day Valley. The John Day Valley has to be one of the prettiest places in Oregon. |

We arrived for the overnighter after a huge climb to the Dixie Summit Campground at about 9pm - hastily made camp, and hit the sack. It was good to be back in business.
