A great ride today through some really lovely terrain in Eastern Kansas . . . and the temps never made it out of the 80's!!

The Running of the Bulls - Kansas-style. Isn't HE supposed to be doing the chasing?
This guy had gotten out of the pasture this morning and didn't know what to make of me. Actually, there were a couple of whitetail deer that ran along side me (a bit ahead) on the road today as well. At one point they thought they had given me the slip - when I crested a hill and startled them again. They were so spooked that they ran into each other before getting organized and exited stage-right. |

| Flood damage in SE Kansas. This section of pavement had been ripped off the road intact and moved to this field. Kooky. |

Today's was the coolest ride since I left the East slope of the Oregon Cascades. Felt fine at the end of the ride.
Met up with Kevin & Russ who were headed West. They left the East Coast on the same day that I left Florence - Father's Day 6/17. Nice guys - as usual wondering initially where the heck all of my gear was! You can check out Kevin's website at WheresKevin.org

A blissfully uneventful day on the trail. A great 100-mile ride. At the end I took my usual 40-minute power nap and then we cruised the town . . . and just happened to run into a brewpub! Amy's A-K Ale weighs in at a whopping 7.7% alcohol. Naturally had to have one of those!

| Will have to find an alternative around this little segment of the route tomorrow. |
