A Family-Style Epic on the TransAmerica Bike Trail

6/16/07 - 1 day to go!

We arrived today in beautiful Florence, Oregon. After a misty drive down the Willamette Valley the skies cleared completely when we reached the coast.

Parked the camper at Honeyman State Park and have just finished enjoying ourselves at the beach (and doing some recon for the beachside "put in" tomorrow morning). Amy suggested we stop at "Mo's" just now as well and picked up a pint of chowda' for dinner tonight to augment the hot dogs. (I'm obviously a slave to strict performance nutrition . . . )

Also placed a call to the Johnson's to get a status update on our dog Cooper - he's in summer school with Sally (their dog) and their cat Mildred. He's already chased said cat and apparently made the place a little more homey for himself by 'marking' a couple of walls in their new home - Cooper is getting an 'F' in summer school.

Gotta run . . . I'm typing in the public library here in Florence. May not be able to update tomorrow as we'll be into the foothills of the Cascades along the McKenzie River.

Start pedaling for the East Coast tomorrow morning . . . Kind of a mind bomb.
