The logging show in June, at Deer Island, was a good time for everyone who attended. We ran Leroy Johnson's donkey as the yarder, and Merv Johnson's Willamette two speed donkey for the loading machine. The weather fair for both days of operation. About 30 people attended this show, and we thank everyone who helped out in the operation, as well as the folks that just came to watch!
Here are some photos of the show. you may click on any of the pictures for a larger image, then hit your back button on your web browser to return to the page.
On the landing. Denny Thulin is both chaser and head loader for the operation. He is setting the tongs for loading, and unhooking the rigging off a turn of logs, as they come into the landing.
Leroy Johnson's homebrew donkey design, uses two vertically mounted cylinders just in front of the boiler. It is fired on propane and has a lot of fine detail work built into it.
This view is looking down from the spar tree showing the heel boom, rail cars and just to the right, a turn of logs that just came up to the landing.
Here is a another look at the landing with a turn of logs that just came in.
