OS X Mail 1.3 SMTP Authentication Configuration

When connected to the Internet from a non-SpiritOne Internet connection, or while using our Nationwide Dial-up service, connections to our outgoing mail server need to be authenticated, essentially "proving" to our mail server that you are a SpiritOne customer, and not a spammer.

These instructions will walk you through configuring the OS X Mail program to authenticate with our SMTP server.

  1. On the dock, click on the Mail icon.
  2. Go to the Mail menu and select Preferences.
  3.

  4. Under Outgoing Mail, choose Server Settings.
  5. Change the pull-down menu next to Authentication to Password.
  6. Enter your SpiritOne username in the User Name box.
  7. Enter your password in the Password box.
  8. Hit OK.
  9. Close the Accounts window.
  10. That's it!  You can now use the OS X Mail program to send email through the SpiritOne outgoing mail server.

What are People Saying about SpiritOne?

"I like knowing I am supporting a local business. Having said that, it is also important that the service is priced competitively. I have had to contact the customer service department only a few times, and was treated well, with a lot of patience."
