As part of their ongoing "Encores great American Musicals in Concert" series City Center is proud to present "Lil Abner" with Julie Newmar recreating her original role as Stupefyin' Jones.

The night could have not been more perfect. The sky was clear, weather warm and the stars were shining brightly over the cast of "Lil' Abner."

My friends and I were privileged to see what many only dream of. We got to see Julie Newmar reprise her roll as "Stupefyin Jones". She looked as if time stood still. The crowd applauded as she gracefully appeared.. The moment she entered the stage, you knew she was home.

Julie wore a body suit that many in their 20's would be jealous. She had a long blonde wig that accented her long lean dancers body. Her costume was slightly different and better than the original. A flesh colored body suit adored with material placed in strategic areas. Clear shoes to give the illusion of being barefoot.

After the applause quieted down, Julie did what she does best. Dance, with style and grace. Julie appeared 4 times, each time to louder applause and more exciting than the last. Trains were stopping as far away as Queens, NY!! The best treat came after the show. My friends and I waited outside the theater to try and catch a glimpse of her. I was fortunate to catch more than a glimpse. I was lucky enough to stand next to her, get a hand shake and autograph. She is a towering beauty. She was genuinely excited that her fans liked the show and appreciated a job well done.
